Gymnastics Canada – BAKU, AZE (July 24, 2016) –Patricia Bezzoubenko of Toronto, ON had her best performance of the season at the World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan this weekend qualifying for the finals in clubs and finishing 12th in the all-around with a score of 70.100.

Bezzoubenko’s best score of the competition was in her clubs routine where she scored 17.750, putting her in eighth place and qualifying her for the finals. In the final, Bezzoubenko delivered a strong routine and finished in sixth place matching her preliminary score of 17.750.

“This was my best competition of the season,” said Bezzoubenko, “I feel amazing, I am so proud of my work and the work of my coach.”

This weekend’s performance follows a disappointing World Cup for Bezzoubenko in early July in Russia. “I felt different on the carpet today.  The energy I was showing was totally different than in Russia and I am very happy with the results.”

In addition to her excellent clubs routine, Bezzoubenko also performed well in her ball routine, narrowly missing finals and scoring 17.400.  Rounding out her routines, Bezzoubenko finished with a score of 17.300 in hoop and 17.650 in ribbon.

Canadian Carmen Whelan also competed this weekend finishing 23rd overall scoring 14.850 in ball, 16.100 in hoop, 16.800 in clubs and 16.450 in ribbon.
