BC Sports Hall of Fame – VANCOUVER, B.C. (Wednesday, October 12, 2016) – Jim Lightbody, the President & Chief Executive Officer of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, led the organization’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, September 21st and is proud to announce the newest Board of Trustees committed to leading the organization.

Lightbody shared “I’m both honoured and excited to be serving the BC Sports Hall of Fame as its Chair. These are exciting times for sport in British Columbia and as we draw a close to our 50th Anniversary celebrations, we are committed to continue promoting the history, heritage and cultural impact that sport has on communities throughout the province. Entering the second year of my two year term, we hope to further our ability to inspire our youth through telling the amazing stories of achievement and perseverance among our honoured members.”

Lightbody has been with BCLC for 15 years, having also served as Vice President of Lottery Gaming and Vice President of Casino and Community Gaming. Born and raised in Victoria, he credits his experiences in team sport in helping shape his leadership capability in business. “I’ll never be in the Hall of Fame as a player, but I was very fortunate to play on teams with Hall of Famers and win championships, “ added Lightbody, “ and it was the leadership lessons that I learned that have strengthened my resolve to help our youth reach their full potential in life through sport.”

“I look forward to continuing to work with Jim and all the members of the Board of Trustees over the course of the next year,” said Allison Mailer, Executive Director of the BC Sports Hall of Fame. “We thank those Trustees whose terms have concluded and welcome two new Trustees Scott Ackles and Gina Iandiorio.” “Our volunteer Board of Trustee members are committed to our organization and believe in our vision of Honouring the Past and Inspiring the Future. One of our key priorities is to increase participation in our Hero In You Youth Education Programs while growing our presence throughout British Columbia. There is no doubt that Jim and the Board of Trustees will play a key role in the success of these initiatives.”
