BC Rugby – Vancouver, BC – January 5, 2018: BC Rugby is excited to announce Marcon Group of Companies as a new sponsor of the NextGen Sevens Teams. Based in Langley, Marcon is a leading real-estate developer in the Lower Mainland and has been a long supporter of Rugby, particularly with Burnaby Lake Rugby Club.

The NextGen Sevens program kicks off with open identification sessions and concludes with NextGen Men’s and Women’s Teams competing at the Las Vegas Invitational Sevens Tournament and the Vancouver Rugby Festival, which takes place at UBC in the two-days before the HSBC Canada Sevens with 8 divisions for Sevens Teams as well as an Old Boys 15s Competition taking place on Friday, March 9.

Funds provided will ensure that key team personnel are competitively compensated while also reducing the cost of competition for all players selected into BC Rugby’s Men’s and Women’s NextGen Sevens Teams.

“Marcon welcomes the opportunity to be partnering with BC Rugby and the NextGen Sevens program.  We are pleased to be able to offer support enabling our athletes the opportunity to be well prepared to compete at such significant events,” said Marco Paolella, President of Marcon.

Aaron Frisby Head Coach of the NextGen program said “The NextGen program is moving in the right direction and has become a real pathway to higher honours. We now have past athletes in the national carding system and after the women going undefeated in Las Vegas the previous two seasons, they will be taking the step up to the Elite division.”.

Partnering with Marcon will see the NextGen program really flourish where players will get more coaching time, better resources and a great environment to succeed.

Players looking to get involved with the NextGen Sevens program are invited to attend an open tryout with the next opportunity taking place this Sunday 7th January at John Oliver Park, Delta.  For more information on the program, visit bcrugby.com/nextgen7s.
