BC Rugby – Canadian Women finish 3rd in Las Vegas and head to Vancouver to play for $5,000 Prize Money, gifted and presented by Grosvenor

March 6, 2017 – Vancouver, BC: BC Rugby has again partnered with Grosvenor to showcase Elite Men’s and Women’s Sevens Rugby at the Vancouver Rugby Festival. Headlining the women’s competition will be Rugby Canada’s Women’s Maple Leafs Team, with some of those players coming off the back of a bronze medal finish at the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens tournament in Las Vegas this past weekend.
 
Through Grosvenor’s support, BC Rugby awards the winners of the Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s divisions $5,000 each. While the Elite Men’s gold medal match will take place at UBC this Friday, the Women’s division have the honour of playing the gold (and bronze) medal matches at BC Place on Saturday, March 11, during a break in play of the HSBC Canada Sevens Vancouver Tournament, of which Grosvenor is a signature partner.

Spectators are encouraged to make their way to UBC’s Gerald McGavin Rugby Centre on Friday, March 10, to witness the playoff matches of both the Elite Men’s and Women’s divisions, the day concluding with the Elite Men’s Gold Medal match at approximately 4.30pm.
 
The Vancouver Rugby Festival is in its second year, having got off the ground in 2016 to accompany the HSBC Canada Sevens Vancouver tournament. The Festival includes nine divisions of amateur rugby from U16 Boys and Girls divisions through to Over 40 Men’s XVs Rugby, and takes place at venues across Greater Vancouver.
