BC Games Society – The BC Games Society has formed a new partnership with the Invictus Games Toronto 2017 to share its knowledge and expertise in event planning as Toronto prepares to host the third Invictus Games from September 23 to the 30, 2017.

Since 1978, the BC Games Society has been the organization responsible for the BC Summer and BC Winter Games. Throughout its history, a robust set of event hosting guidelines and materials have been developed to help volunteer organizing committees to plan and stage these successful events in communities throughout British Columbia.

“This opportunity to partner with the Invictus Games Toronto 2017 is really sharing the collective volunteer experiences from forty years of BC Games management”, said BC Games Society President and CEO, Kelly Mann. “Our transfer of knowledge program is based upon that work which has hosted BC’s best young athletes for decades. To now share this on the world stage with the Invictus Games Toronto 2017 is further validation of a collective investment in volunteer training and community goodwill.”

The Invictus Games were established in 2014 by Prince Harry and are the only international adaptive sporting event for wounded, ill, and injured active duty and veteran service members. This third-ever event will leverage the infrastructure of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games and will now access the BC Games Society’s extensive organizational planning resources to ensure the success of the event.

The partnership between our two organizations reflects the idea that the upcoming Invictus Games are indeed ‘Canada’s Games’ with representation and support from coast to coast,” said Michael Burns, Invictus Games Toronto 2017 Chief Executive Officer.

The BC Games Society is a proud Games Supporter and looks forward to assisting the Invictus Games Toronto 2017 as they put plans into action to welcome over 550 competitors from 17 nations for eight days of fierce competition in 12 adaptive sports.
