Basketball Nova Scotia – Halifax, NS (August 2, 2019) –Basketball Nova Scotia 15U and 17U girls and boys teams are off to Canada Basketball National Championships. Victoria, British Columbia will host the 15U/17U Girl’s National Championships, while Fredericton, New Brunswick will host the 15U/17U Boy’s National Championships. The tournament will run from August 5thto 10th. Basketball Nova Scotia has won 19 medals since 2002 on the girls and boys sides. The teams to watch this year include defending champions 17U boys & 2018 bronze medalist 15U boys.

Basketball Nova Scotia 17U boys, this year led by head coach Mat MacDonald, have won three of the past four national titles, including last year (2018) when they defeated Quebec (98-90) in the championship game in Kamloops, B.C.  Heading into the tournament as the defending champions, Nova Scotia (1) begins play on Monday at 3:45 p.m. AST versus British Columbia (4), at the Richard J. Currie Centre. The 2018 bronze medalist Nova Scotia 15U boys team (3) open play on Monday at 1:30 p.m. AST versus Quebec (2). 

On the girls side, Nova Scotia (7) opens the 17U tournament Monday at 1:00 p.m. AST versus New Brunswick (8). At the 15U tournament, Nova Scotia (5) begins play on Monday against Prince Edward Island (10) at 3:15 p.m. AST.
