Nova Scotia Golf Association – Anne Balser from the Links of Brunello went wire to wire to capture her second Nova Scotia Women’s Amateur Championship. Balser triumphantly returned to competitive golf after having not competed since 2012. The 28-year old native of Digby who now lives in Halifax, shot a three round total of 224 (+14). Balser won her first Women’s Amateur in 2011 at the Paragon Golf Club.

NSGA Junior Development Team member Allison Chandler finished second overall with after carding a final round 78 to finish five strokes behind Balser.

There was a two-way tie for third place between Cristal Romero (Grandview) and Mireille LeBlanc (Clare) who both finished the tournament with a three round total of 230.

The Anne Balser, Cristal Romero and Mireille LeBlanc will represent Nova Scotia at the up coming Canadian Women’s Amatuer Championship which will be held at the Ken-Wo Golf Club Club on July 26-29. Joining the team as an alternate will be Jen Alward (Brightwood).


 

Ruth Maxwell from the Oakfield Golf Club won her third straight Women’s Senior Championship today after firing a final round 77 to finish the championship with three-day total of 228.

Joanie McCarville from Ashburn finished second overall with three total of 237 and Debi Karrel (Ashburn) was third overall with a total score of 240.

The Senior Team will be made up of Ruth Maxwell, Debbie Arsenault (Grandview) and Leslie Houde (Paragon) and Fay Gunter (Grandview) will be playing as the alternate. The team will travel to Canadian Senior Women’s Championship which will be hosted at Wolf Creek Golf Resort in Alberta from August 24th– 26th.
