Ringette Canada – Leduc, Alberta – March 29, 2017 – Atlantic Attack posted two wins in the National Ringette League (NRL) division at the 2017 Freson Bros. Canadian ringette championships in Leduc today. The most exciting game was a 4-3 overtime win downing previously undefeated Cambridge Turbos. Moncton’s Jenny Snowdon tied the game late in the fourth period and then posted the game winner 49 seconds into overtime. Dieppe’s Miguelle Proulx assisted on the Attack’s overtime goal.

The Attack also downed Ottawa Ice 12-11 earlier in the day, with Bouctouche’s Martine Caissie posting a hat trick and five assists in the game. Nepean’s Jayme Simzer picked up four goals and two assists for Ottawa. In other NRL play, previously undefeated Richmond Hill Lightning suffered two losses today – a 12-6 loss to Cambridge and a 3-1 loss to Waterloo Wildfire.

In the U16 division, BLL (QC) and Central Alberta Sting remain undefeated. BLL beat the Regina Stingers 6-4 and Central Alberta Sting downed Sherwood Park (AB) 10-3. Québec’s Mégane Fortin (Blainville) remains on top of the leading scorer board in the U16 division with 27 points.

Manitoba (BVRA Angels) continued their winning streak U19 division, downing Richmond Hill (ON) 7-2 today. Winnipeg’s Alana Lesperance posted a goal and three assists in the game and leads the scoring in the U19 division with 16 points.

Games are taking place at the Leduc Recreation Centre, the Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre in Beaumont, and the Dale Fisher Arena in Devon. The finals will be held at the Leduc Recreation Centre. Competition continues all week and finals in all three divisions take place on Saturday, April 1 (U16 at 9:30 MDT, U19 at 11:30 MDT and NRL at 13:30 MDT). All-stars and the NRL Annual Awards will be announced at the closing award ceremony on Saturday night.
