Golf Ontario – Golf Canada – Golf Canada, in conjunction with the R&A and the USGA, have unveiled the 2019 Rules of Golf that will come into effect January 1st, 2019. This joint initiative was designed to modernize the Rules and make them easier to understand and apply.

Golf Ontario is committed to administering the Rules of Golf and to the ongoing education of Golf Ontario member clubs and golfers across the province. Through Golf Canada’s Rules Education program, Golf Ontario members will have access to learning the new Rules of Golf.

Whether you are just interested in learning the Rules, a tournament player, a club professional, or a volunteer wanting to become a provincial rules referee, Golf Ontario is committed to providing educational services and tools for everyone to be rules ready in 2019!

Level 1 Workshops

Instructed by a nationally certified Golf Canada Rules Referee, Golf Ontario’s Level 1 Workshops provide an interesting and easy way to learn the basics of the Rules of Golf. This introductory level will focus on the Player’s Guide to the Rules of Golf and commonly encountered situations on the course. As part of the Level 1 program, participants will be able to test their knowledge by attempting the optional Level 1 Exam.

Level 1 Workshops are perfect for:

  • Everyday golfers
  • Pro shop staff preparing for the season
  • Course superintendents
  • Junior Golf Tour operators
  • Golf academies

Level 2 Workshops

Looking to becoming a rules referee for a provincial/national championship? Or are you a club professional ready to take on a rules matter at a club event? Golf Ontario’s Rules of Golf Level 2 Workshops take an in-depth look at concepts, procedures and outcomes that are more intuitive and easier to learn in today’s game. The workshops will also examine the use of the interpretations that are found in the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf book to help participants better prepare for rules situations as a referee or in the pro shop for club events. Level 2 workshops also include 9 weekly online webinars starting at the end of January. The webinars are optional but are strongly recommended for those individuals wishing to pass the optional Level 2 exam.
