Archery Canada – With its training program in full swing, and the recent announcement regarding the National Training Squad (NTS), Archery Canada is naming its male athletes for two important international competitions.

For the Arizona Cup to be held in Phoenix from April 7 – 9, Joan McDonald will be the project’s Head Coach and will be supported by Dick Tone as Archery Canada’s Technical Consultant. The following six athletes from the NTS will be competing in Arizona:

Crispin Duenas, Toronto, ON

Hamilton Nguyen, Toronto, ON

Brandon Xuereb, Toronto, ON

Conner Sorley, Saskatoon, SK

Adam Serdynski, Toronto, ON

Brian Maxwell, Vancouver, BC

Today Archery Canada also announces the four male athletes, who will compete at the Shanghai World Cup from May 16 – 21, and who will be supported by Shawn Riggs as the project’s Head Coach, and Alan Brahmst as High Performance Advisor.

Hamilton Nguyen, Toronto, ON

Brian Maxwell, Vancouver, BC

Conner Sorley, Saskatoon, SK

Brandon Xuereb, Toronto, ON

The Shanghai World Cup is the first outdoor event of the 2017 World Cup season, with the other stages being held in Antalya, Turkey; Salt Lake City, USA; and Berlin, Germany later this year. The World Cups precede the World Championships to be held in Mexico City this October.

Shanghai is the first significant competition of the Tokyo quadrennial, as Archery Canada begins the long preparation towards a successful 2020 Olympic Games. The four athletes named for Shanghai are coming-off of strong performances at the Canadian Regional Indoor Championships, as well as a successful international training camp in California, and an intense domestic training program. Shanghai will be Maxwell’s first World Cup appearance, Sorley’s second, Xuereb’s fourth, and Nguyen’s sixth.
