Archery Canada – (Ottawa, ON) September 4, 2018 – Archery Canada, the national governing body for Archery has joined the House of Sport, moving their National office to the innovative sport hub located at the RA Centre in Ottawa.

Archery Canada promotes and develops this timeless sport for all participants, and leads Canadian competitive archery toward excellence. Through strong collaborative partnerships, sound professional management, and creation of an organization-wide culture of excellence, Archery Canada has supported their athletes to be consistent podium contenders and has increased participation in every kind of archery.

“Archery is one of the oldest forms of target shooting and is an original Olympic sport” says Mary MacDonald, Executive Director, Archery Canada. “Joining the House of Sport is a wonderful opportunity for our organization. With the integration of Archery Canada into the active and established archery community at the RA, we will continue to promote and advance this timeless sport through innovative programming and strong partnerships.”

Archery is woven into the fabric of the RA. In fact, the RA Centre has one of the largest indoor facilities in Eastern Ontario and is recognized as Ottawa’s premier indoor range.  For over 35 years, the RA Archery Club has offered Archery lessons and a welcoming club atmosphere for competitive and recreational archers alike. This past July, the RA Archery Club hosted a very successful Ontario Provincial Championships at the RA’s main campus on Riverside Drive.

“Like many of the sport groups in the House of Sport, Archery Canada recognizes that sport can’t happen without engagement at the grass roots” says Tosha Rhodenizer, RA Chief Executive Officer.  “The RA Archery Club members will benefit from Archery Canada’s involvement through top notch, innovative programming.”

The House of Sport project will significantly strengthen the RA’s position and deepen its roots as a leader in the sports, fitness and recreation sectors not just within the City of Ottawa but across the country. “The RA is proud to be driving such a creative and innovative re-imagining”,  Ms. Rhodenizer adds. “The integration of the House of Sport into the RA community will continue to strengthen our connection to Canadian sport by supporting the organizations that help athletes grow and develop from playground to podium.  This is something the RA has been passionately contributing to for the last 75 years”.

The RA in concert with the other not for profit organizations on-site in the House of Sport, will benefit from the economies of scale and efficiencies by sharing common elements such cutting-edge technologies and many other resources.  Proceeds from this project will be funneled back into the Association and allow for further investment within the Ottawa community through RA programs, activities and facilities.
