U Sports – TORONTO (U Sports) – Sabrina McDaid from St. Francis Xavier University and Shane Osayande from the University of Saskatchewan are the ArcelorMittal Dofasco U Sports female and male athletes of the week for the period ending November 6, 2016.

McDaid, a fifth-year arts student from Scarborough, Ont., recorded 19 combined points – including eight conversison – in three wins, en route to the X-Women’s fifth U Sports women’s rugby title in the last decade. The veteran fly-half was named of MVP of the championship and a tournament all-star.  

Rugby player Emily Tuttosi of Calgary, hockey player Valencia Yordanov of Toronto, and soccer player Arielle Roy-Petitclerc of Laval were also nominated for the women’s award.

Osayande, a fourth-year arts and science major from Toronto, put up back to back double-doubles in Saskatchewan’s weekend split against Fraser Valley. The Huskies’ forward scored 18 points and 13 rebounds in a 59-50 loss Friday night before adding another 30 points and 18 boards in a 78-62 win Saturday.

Soccer goalkeepers Mark Rogal of Toronto and Valentin Lamoulie of UQAM, along with striker Corey Bent of Cape Breton were the other male nominees.
