U SPORTS – TORONTO (U SPORTS) – Heather Lindsay from the Carleton Ravens and Mamadou Guèye from the Alberta Golden Bears are the ArcelorMittal Dofasco U SPORTS female and male athletes of the week for the period ending March 5, 2017.

Lindsay, a fourth year environmental studies student from Ottawa, put up 35 points and 22 rebounds, en route to back-to-back double-doubles, helping the Ravens win their first OUA Critelli Cup at Queen’s University. Lindsay’s strong defensive play was also key in the title run, recording a game-high three blocks in both a narrow 55-54 semifinal against the McMaster Marauders and the 49-41 final against the Queen’s Gaels. She was named the player of the game in Saturday’s championship match.

Basketball players Colleen Keane of the Cape Breton Capers, Gladys Hakizimana of the McGill Martlets, and Sabine Dukate of the Saskatchewan Huskies were also nominated for the women’s award.

Guèye, a fourth year student from Québec City, scored 50 points at the Canada West Final 4, leading the Golden Bear’s to their 12th conference title. In the 83-70 semifinal victory over the Saskatchewan Huskies, Guèye had a game-high 30 points to go along with eight rebounds and one block, before registering 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals in a dominating 92-73 title win over the Manitoba Bisons in the final.
