Canadian Interuniversity Sport – TORONTO (CIS) – Soccer players Ashton Lowry from the University of Regina and Daud Dahir from Carleton University are the ArcelorMittal Dofasco CIS female and male athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 18, 2016.

Lowry, a third-year nursing student from Calgary, posted back-to-back clean sheets over the weekend as the Cougars went undefeated against Winnipeg and Manitoba. The Regina keeper made five saves in blanking the Wesmen 1-0 on the road Saturday, before stopping another seven shots in a scoreless draw against the Bisons Sunday.

Soccer players Jessie Noseworthy of Memorial and Tierney Dunham of Wilfrid Laurier, along with cross country runner Mélanie Myrand of McGill were also nominated for the women’s award.

Dahir, a fifth-year commerce major from Ottawa, scored five times in three games for the Ravens, including a hat-trick in a 9-1 victory last Wednesday over Trent.
