Freestyle Canada – Quebec City, Quebec, February 12, 2017 – Under cool conditions, Alex Beaulieu-Marchand led the Canadian slopestyle squad to a strong performance on home soil. Alex managed to clinch a third place finish today in Canada’s first-ever domestic slopestyle World Cup.

After a strong performance at the Aspen X Games, Alex carried his momentum into this World Cup, and delivered in front of a hometown crowd. Alex scored an 85.60 on his first run. On his second run, Alex added some technicality to his tricks and manage to boost his score to a 93.40.

‘‘I’m very happy that I landed all my runs today, and that I skied how I wanted to. I’m also happy that my performance landed me on the podium, in front of my family and friends. That’s a bonus!’’ stated third place finisher Alex Beaulieu-Marchand.

Teammates Evan McEachran and Alex Bellemare both had strong showings and finished 8th and 10th respectively.

On the women’s side, Kim Lamarre was our top Canadian female, finishing 6th. This top-ten finish will act as a confidence builder for Kim, as she looks forward to the second half of the season.

“I was really proud of myself in training, as I was able to change up my run. Usually, I’m kind of slow at changing things up… I’m a little disappointed that I wasn’t able to execute my run as cleanly as desired in finals. But overall, there are so many positives to pull from this week!’’ stated Kim Lamarre.

The Canadian slopestyle team will regroup, train and gear up for the upcoming World Cup in Silvaplana, Switzerland in early March.
