Alberta Soccer Association – (Red Deer) – This weekend, Alberta Soccer will welcome 65 women from across our province (and beyond) for the 3rd annual Women in Soccer Conference.

The conference, which aims to promote and support the status of women in leadership roles both on and off the field, will be led by a number of female facilitators currently in leadership roles throughout Canada. The CEO of the Coaching Association of Canada, Lorraine Lafreniere, will provide the keynote address, with Olympic medalists, Women’s National Soccer team staff, FIFA referees, and leadership experts also offering valuable insight and tangible skills during the workshops and panel sessions.

“Providing an event such as the Women in Soccer Conference is important for the advancement of women in sport,” said Richard Adams, Alberta Soccer Association’s Executive Director, “We’re pleased to offer such a unique developmental opportunity to Alberta’s soccer community and hope to expand the conference to a multi-sport perspective in the coming years.”

Each participant has opted for one of three primary areas of focus: coaching officiating, or leadership. Those registered in the coaching or refereeing streams have the opportunity to gain full certification by the end of the weekend.

Media are welcome to conduct interviews with conference organizers, speakers and participants prior to the conference or on Saturday morning at Red Deer College.
