Sport Nova Scotia – Halifax, NS (May 22, 2018) – The best in sport will be recognized this Saturday, May 26 as Sport Nova Scotia hosts the 2018 Support4Sport Awards. Among them are world champions, elite officials, Olympic coaches and game-changing volunteers. 

“We have an impressive list of contenders this year,” said Jamie Ferguson, CEO of Sport Nova Scotia. “From an NBA hopeful and the most decorated gymnast in Canada to an underdog badminton player, a snowboard cross titleholder and a couple of new Olympians, we’re guaranteed to have an exciting evening.”

The Support4Sport Awards recognize the achievements of Nova Scotia’s greatest athletes, teams, coaches, officials, and volunteers in amateur sport over the past year. Each of the finalists were nominated by their provincial sport organization as the best in their sport. “Every single nominee should be proud of their accomplishments in sport,” says Bob MacKinnon, President & CEO of the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation. “As Nova Scotians, we’re proud to celebrate your hard work, dedication and excellence at these awards, and to support your passion throughout the year with the Support4Sport program.”All of these individual sport winners then went through a multi-level judging process to determine the overall winner for each category across all sports.

 The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony commencing at 6pm on May 26, 2018 at the Halifax Convention Centre.  Additional awards to be announced on May 26th include the Sport Makes a Difference Award and the Chair Award. Sport Nova Scotia and Support4Sport will also recognize the Volunteer of the Year and Sponsor of the Year from each of the Provincial Sport Organizations.
