Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup – Calgary, Alta. (October 16, 2018) – The Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup is excited to announce a new partnership with alumni ski racer, Patrick Biggs. Biggs, who is better known as a former World Cup slalom racer, has taken the Canadian art scene by storm with his talent off the hill as an emerging visual artist.

Biggs has been commissioned to create new artwork showcasing the speed and majestic beauty of this World Cup race in iconic Banff National Park. “My goal with these works is to capture the energy, speed and excitement of the races on canvas.” states Biggs. “As a retired world-class competitive skier, myself, I understand the dynamics and motion of a ski turn, which help me bring a deeper essence to my paintings.”

The paintings will be featured on the official event posters for the 2018 Lake Louise World Cup. The originals will be auctioned during the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Bib Pick & Silent Auction, November 24 and December 1. “We have a long history with supporting athletes, ski clubs and other members of the ski racing community through the hosting of the Lake Louise World Cup,” remarks Race Chairman, Brian Lynam. “This year is our first collaboration with an alumni member of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, and we couldn’t be prouder of how his art reflects our great race and the sport.”

Mark your calendars and bring your cowbells to come out and cheer on Canada’s fastest athletes as they vie for podium finishes and kick-off the start of the 2018-19 season. These races mark the opening of the speed events on the Audi FIS Ski World Cup tour.

About the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup
The world’s fastest skiers descend on Alberta at the end of November each year to compete at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup downhill and super-G races held during the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup. Held in the heart of the majestic Rocky Mountains at Lake Louise Ski Resort, Canada’s highest-profile alpine ski race features the first men’s and ladies’ speed events of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup season. First hosted in 1980, the Lake Louise World Cup event is the first outside Europe to be named to the prestigious Club 5, an organization that brings together the most famous and historic World Cup alpine race organizing committees. The event has become synonymous with the start of the ski season each winter. It also represents the only opportunity male and female Canadian alpine skiers have to win a World Cup on home snow.
