U SPORTS – Victoria defeats Laval in penalty kicks 4-1

WINNIPEG (U SPORTS) – The Victoria Vikes eliminated the Laval Rouge et Or with a 4-1 shootout victory at the 2017 U SPORTS Women’s Soccer Championship Friday afternoon at the Subway South Soccer Complex in Winnipeg, Man.
“Laval is a fantastic soccer team, they have a fantastic soccer program,” said Victoria head coach Tracy David. “To be able to play against the defending national champions is really an honor for us. I was really proud of our performance today.”
Manitoba defeats Guelph 5-1
The Manitoba Bisons eliminated the University of Guelph Gryphons with a 5-1 victory at the 2017 U SPORTS Women’s Soccer Championship Friday afternoon at the Subway Soccer South Complex in Winnipeg, Man.
“We really wanted to redeem ourselves after yesterday because we thought we played a fantastic first half but not a very good second and everybody was really mad about that,” said Bisons head coach Vanessa Martinez Lagunas. “The girls did a really great job today and I’m extremely proud of them. All the things we learned from yesterday’s game they were able to implement them well today.”
