Baseball Manitoba – As the baseball season winds down, it is time for Baseball Manitoba to begin the process of recognizing those players, teams, coaches and umpires that had outstanding seasons. Baseball Manitoba is now accepting nominations in 15 categories.

The awards forms may be accessed through the Baseball Manitoba website at www.baseballmanitoba.ca/awards. The forms are completed and submitted on-line. Leagues will be contacted regarding the nominees to verify the league acceptance. The deadline for nominations is Monday, October 2.

The 2017 Baseball Manitoba Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, November 4 in Brandon at the Clarion Hotel on Victoria Avenue as part of the Baseball Manitoba 2017 Convention. The Awards Committee will limit recognition at the banquet only to those selected as the winners in each category. Those nominated and not selected to receive an award will be notified of their nomination by mail.

Baseball Manitoba is accepting nominations for the following:

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

  • 13U (Pee Wee)
  • 15U (Bantam)
  • 18U (Midget)
  • 21 (Junior)
  • Senior
  • Female
  • Challenger

COACH OF THE YEAR – Grassroots

This award will be presented to a Baseball Manitoba registered coach with a minimum Level I Technical NCCP certification (coaches of “AA” or “A” Minor club teams programs) for outstanding volunteer service to the sport at club, regional or provincial level.  The nominee will be recognized for leadership and excellence and must be a current member in good standing.

COACH OF THE YEAR – High Performance

This award will be presented to a Baseball Manitoba registered coach with a minimum of Trained Provincial NCCP certification (coaches of Minor “AAA” teams, 21U and Senior teams or provincial teams) for outstanding volunteer service to the sport at club, regional or national level.  The nominee will be recognized for leadership and excellence and must be a current member in good standing.

TEAM OF THE YEAR – Grassroots

This award will be presented to a minor team from the “AA” or “A” categories (11U, 13U, 15U or 18U)

JUNIOR/SENIOR TEAM OF THE YEAR – High Performance

This award will be presented to a 21U “AAA”, Senior “AA” or Senior “AA” All-star team

MINOR TEAM OF THE YEAR – High Performance

This award will be presented to a 13U, 15U or 18U “AAA” team

YOUTH UMPIRE OF THE YEAR

This award will be presented to minimum Level II certification and 20 years of age or under

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

This award will be presented to an active adult volunteer whose contributions to baseball this current year have resulted in the creation of a better environment for players.  Nominees may not be active members of Baseball Manitoba Board of Directors.  Former candidates from past years are eligible for nomination in any of the MBA Awards categories.

HONOUR SOCIETY

Open to persons who have made a significant long-term contribution to amateur baseball in Manitoba as a player, coach, umpire, or volunteer. (minimally 10+ years)
