Football Canada- Winnipeg, MB (July 13, 2016) – With semi-final victories on Tuesday July 12, Quebec and Saskatchewan advanced to the gold medal game at the 2016 Football Canada Cup at East Side Field in Winnipeg. The gold medal game is a rematch of 2010 final in which Saskatchewan defeated Quebec 18-10 to capture gold in Wolfville, NS.

The gold medal game takes place at 8 p.m. CT at Investors Group Field on Friday July 15 while the bronze medal game between Alberta and Ontario takes place at 5 p.m.

Manitoba Gold and Nova Scotia bounced back from opening day losses on day two and will battle for fifth place at 2 p.m. while New Brunswick and Manitoba Silver will look for their first victory on Friday morning in the 11 a.m. game.

Game five

Manitoba-Gold recovered from an opening day loss at the hands of rival Saskatchewan, opening Tuesday morning’s action with a 13-0 victory over New Brunswick.

Manitoba defensive back Galata Gurmu lead the hometown squad with an interception and two punt blocks. Gurmu’s second punt block and return inside the 10-yard line set-up Manitoba’s second score. 

Dual-threat quarterback, Hunter Sturgeon, lead the way for New Brunswick with 94-yards on the ground to go along with 57-yards through the air.
