SPORTMEDBC – BURNABY, BC – Dr. David Cox, Chair of the Board of SportMedBC, has announced that Robert Joncas has been hired as the new Executive Director of SportMedBC. He will begin his duties on March 7, 2016.

Mr. Joncas, originally from Newport, Québec, has a Physical Education degree from the Université de Moncton, and a Masters in Kinesiology from the Université de Sherbrooke.

He was the Technical Director for the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors before becoming High Performance Manager at Canada Snowboard in 2005. Mr. Joncas was the Assistant Team Leader for Canada Snowboard at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, after which he was appointed to the High Performance Director position, leading the Canadian Snowboard Team at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.

He was honoured in 2014 as the first inductee to the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors’ Hall of Fame. He has also been a BC School Board Trustee since 2011.
