I am married with 3 children: 2 boys (16 and 13) and a 10-year-old girl. I am 42 years old and originally from Burundi. I’ve been involved in sports since I was young, and I’m a former basketball player. I fought nasopharyngeal cancer in 2018. In 2019, I started coaching girls 9 to 15 in a Basketball Academy Association (ICBA). I am currently a level 1 basketball coach. During COVID, with the courts being closed, I didn’t give up sports and I started fitness, running, and walking. Every time after I do sports, I feel good and I sing or dance. My day is filled with joy.
Something I would like to share with you is that on Sunday, May 2, 2021, my husband, the kids and I decided to go for a bike ride. It was the first time I rode in the middle of the road. I’m able to do it thanks to my daily sports that forges my spirit of determination. I didn’t think I could do it before.
At the end of the ride, a few metres from my house, on a slope, I almost fell. I forgot to brake because I was so focused.
We had a good laugh 🤣 and it felt good.
We love playing sports together.
My family is a winning team and Mom is fulfilled – physically and morally.
