We know that being physically active goes a long way in helping prevent and manage various diseases and illness. Recent research is looking into the direct relationships between physical activity and mental health. The Health Study of Nord-Trøndelag County (HUNT) examined whether physical activity provides protection against new-onset depression and anxiety, the intensity and amount of exercise required to gain protection and the mechanisms that explain any association.
