Position Purpose and Summary

The Coordinator administrates and monitors the operations of the David E. Enarson Gymnasium; they work alongside the Athletic Facilities Manager to ensure the building is operating efficiently and effectively.  This is a full-time permanent position. Working hours for this position are Tuesday-Friday, 11am-6pm, Saturday’s 7:30-2:30pm. 

Key Areas of Accountability

  • Supervise the TWU Fitness Centre, gymnasium and other key risk areas of the David E. Enarson.
  • Monitor the Fitness Centre entrance and provide customer service for the Fitness Centre and patrons of the building in general. Be the first responder in emergency situations as needed. 
  • Assist the Athletics Facility Manager in coordinating and scheduling gym supervisors (students) and other athletic facilities staff.
  • Be the lead administrator and expert for all athletic facilities management systems. These systems include but are not limited to ActiveNet, Humanity and google forms  This includes ensuring fitness centre members have seamless access into the space.
  • Conduct regular inspections and minor maintenance on equipment in the Fitness Centre to ensure safety of all users.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the David E. Enarson Gymnasium
  • Assist with administration and scheduling of athletic facility rental contracts
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Fitness Coordinator on providing fitness centre orientations to members
  • Make recommendations for Fitness Centre upgrades
  • Monitor and enforce building rules and risk management policies.
  • Ensure regular cleaning of the Fitness Centre and all its equipment.
  • Ensure accurate up to date collection of athletic facility data metrics
  • Develop and execute advertising, promotions and contests for the fitness centre.
  • Work with the Recreation department to facilitate the scheduling, organization and registration of their programs.
  • Assist the Athletics Facility Manager and Director of Athletic Facilities and Recreation with facility scheduling and other tasks as needed

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in administrative, customer service and supervisory roles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work easily with the public, staff, students and faculty. The ability to positively enforce facility policies, procedures and risk management requirements.
  • Demonstrated computer skills specifically with word processing and registration/scheduling software.
  • A strong knowledge of operations and systems management, should also be evident.
  • Strong problem solving skills that can be used to provide excellent customer service to assist staff, students, and faculty when needed.
  • The ability to remain calm in emergency and situations that require First Aid.

Standards & Requirements

Education: Undergraduate Degree or diploma in the field of Human Kinetics, Business, Recreation or related field. Fitness or Personal training experience will be considered an asset.  First Aid and CPR “C” training are also a minimum requirement

Experience: 3-4 years of experience in an administrative role.  Experience with Recreation or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and general experience in a sports or recreation setting will be considered an asset.
