TECHNICAL DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Position
Description:
Softball New Brunswick (SNB) is seeking the services of a full-time Technical Director for a 1-year term (with possibility of renewal). This position will report to the Executive Director. The ideal candidate will have a background in coaching and/or teaching/facilitation and/or playing softball and will take a lead role in the implementation of the Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) Plans from grassroots to high performance, as well as developmental and educational programs for coaches and athletes within the province. Along with leading the Provincial Team program, the Technical Director will participate (in conjunction with the Softball NB Coaching Coordinator) in the development process for coaches and course facilitators for the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). The candidate will work closely with the Executive Director and local associations to promote our key initiatives.

General Administration

In conjunction with the Executive Director, develop annual budgets as it relates to the technical programs.

Answer inquiries of a technical nature from the membership, staff, and general public.

Implementation and coordination of the Softball NB registration platform, SportsEngine.

Act as a liaison for planning of provincial events.

Expanding relationships with our current and potential partners: Special Olympics NB, Fredericton Multicultural Association, Acadian Games, Indian Summer Games, etc.

SafeSport Initiatives – Attending meetings and/or conference calls on behalf of Softball NB and sharing information with members through our media platforms.

Design, development and management of social media platforms and analytics

Other tasks assigned by the Executive Director, President, or Board of Directors.

Coach Development:

Coordinate NCCP Professional Development (PD) opportunities throughout the province.

Webinar Series In conjunction with the Executive Director and Coaching Coordinator, develop
the annual strategy for the provincial wide delivery of NCCP Workshops and coach evaluations.

Become a certified Softball Canada Learning Facilitator, and in conjunction with the SNB Coaching Coordinator, host coaching clinics through the province to meet demand.

Identify, recruit, train, and evaluate SNB Learning Facilitators and Coach Evaluators.

Develop an elite coach mentorship program as part of the Provincial Team program.

Coordinate and implement Pitcher Instructor Beginner (PIB) clinics.

Grassroots Player Development:

Planning, promotion, and implementation of all grassroots programming: U10
Jamborees, Youth Skills Development Camps, etc. Ensure
that all clubs and leagues are implementing and following the LTPD best
practices as set out by Softball Canada and Softball New Brunswick.

Elite
Athlete Development

Planning, promotion, and implementation of all elite player programming: High
Performance Clinics.

Implementation of stage appropriate training aligning with the Athlete Development
Matrix.

Assist in the management of the Softball New Brunswick Provincial Leagues.

Assist in the management of the Softball New Brunswick Provincial Team Programs.

Serve as a liaison for our Canada Games Programs.

Qualifications:

A degree in Kinesiology, Recreation or Education (or sport related field) is
considered an asset.

Experience in coaching and NCCP coaching training/certification is an asset.

Familiarity with the Long-Term Player Development Model and Canada Sport for Life programs.

Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders (volunteers, coaches, and players
of all ages).

Ability to work independently with good time management, organization and problem-solving skills.

Access to a computer with internet capabilities, familiarity with computer programs such as Excel, Google Drive, Google Docs, etc. Ability to do internet research, spreadsheets, presentations, publications and
coordinate SNB on social media is required.

Employment Conditions:

This position will be for a 1-year term with an annual review with the Executive Director and/or President (Possibility of renewal).

Bilingualism will be considered an asset.

Annual salary will be communicated at offer.

The ability to work remotely with NB is an option.

Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle, as some travel in Province will be required (expenses reimbursed as per SNB guidelines).
