OVERVIEW:
The Prince Edward Island 2023 Canada Games Host Society is looking to fill the position of Merchandise Retail Associate.
As a province known for its hospitality, we’re excited to welcome the 2023 Canada Winter Games to Prince Edward Island. From February 18 – March 5, 2023, the Games will bring together over 3,600 athletes, managers and coaches, across 20 different sports, for the largest multi-sport event in the country. With a forecasted economic impact of over $100 million, the 29th edition of the Canada Games will be the largest event hosted in Prince Edward Island’s history.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Manager, Sponsorship and Revenue Generation, the Merchandise Retail Associate will be an enthusiastic and engaging individual involved with the promotion and sale of 2023 Canada Winter Games branded merchandise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Greeting and providing assistance to customers in a positive way

Promotion of merchandise products and assisting with inventory and the setup of displays

Processing sale of merchandise transactions in a courteous, prompt and accurate manner.

Operation of point of sale systems and the handling of cash purchases

Prepare daily reports on sales and related matters
-
Resolve issues that may arise such as customer complaints, returns and inventory

Contributing to promoting a positive, friendly, safe, and a healthy environment

Maintaining a clean work environment

Ability to multitask, prioritize and work collaboratively with other staff
-
A strong attention to detail and can work with little or no supervision
-
Other duties or assignments as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Desire to work in an enthusiastic and engaging work environment

Ability to work while maintaining a focus on details
-
A customer service focus and the ability to display items in a manner that promotes the sale of Canada Games merchandise
-
Familiarity and Experience in a busy retail environment is considered an asset
-
Familiarity with Point of Sales terminals and cash handling procedures
-
Demonstrated positive attitude and a high energy, motivated approach to work
-
Inventory control, ordering and rotation of merchandise on a daily basis is required

Excellent communication skills
OTHER:

Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Working conditions: sitting, using a computer, and repetitive motions over extended periods of time

Applicants must be, or scheduled to be, fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their start date
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Full Time: 40 – 48 hours per work week.

Additional hours, or time outside of the normal work hours, may be required in order to meet operational requirements of the 2023 Canada Winter Games.
This is a contract position, until September 2022.
