OVERVIEW
The future is bright for golf in Canada, and you will be right in the middle of it all at First Tee – British Columbia, Golf Canada’s flagship junior program. First Tee – British Columbia began in 2021 and is looking for a donor-centric, seasoned fundraising professional to lead the chapter revenue goals. This role will be primarily work from home, with travel to chapter-staff meetings, donor engagements, events, and program locations as required.
The desired applicant will report directly to the Director of Development, First Tee – Canada and will be responsible for achieving fundraising targets as part of an annual campaign. Areas of focus include soliciting major gift donations, third party events, professional and amateur championships, auctions, and raffles. This opportunity will appeal to an individual who is a high-achiever, self-starter and looking to grow First Tee – British Columbia into a significant brand in Canadian golf.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising: 70%
• Cultivate, pitch and close major gift prospects
• Develop, execute, and manage an annual fundraising campaign and events
• Research fundraising opportunities and write grant applications to both foundations and government opportunities
• Manage all stewardship activities with existing and prospective donors including website
• Manage all relationships and activities for third party events
• Assist in the creation of creative and marketing materials
• Recruit, organize and inspire volunteers
• Manage and adhere to budget
Marketing/Communications: 15%
• Assist in the creation of promotional brochures to increase awareness of the programs and facility
• Manage third-party event policies and communication
• Assist in communication activities for openings, special events, newsletter, printed materials, and the chapter website
• Help create print and video materials for communicating program impact to donors, golf clubs, and event partners
Administration: 15%
• Manage the donor gift cycle including identifying prospects, soliciting and stewarding donors
• Manage pledges, invoicing, and payment receipts
• Create reports on budget projections and YTD results. Solicit auction items; plan events, sell teams and sponsorships; assist in general communications including event follow up
• Contribute to the chapter business plan and oversee its implementation
• Work collaboratively with the chapter Program Manager to enhance donor experience
• Work closely with the finance team on year-end reconciliation
• Lead Ambassador Committee meetings
Required Skills
• University/college degree preferred
• Senior Development Officer: 5 to 8 years’ experience in fundraising in not-for-profit organization
• Development Officer: 3 to 5 years’ experience in fundraising in not-for-profit organization
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong budget management, organization, financial and IT skills
• Database experience
• Ability to work independently and pro-actively
• Knowledge of golf an asset

HOURS OF WORK
Golf Canada Foundation’s regular hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, eight hours a day, five days a week including a one-hour lunch. Due to the nature of this position, travel will be required along with the need to work events on some evenings and weekends to meet the objectives of your employment.
