Golf Ontario is currently seeking applications for a dynamic professional people person to support our staff and volunteers as the Manager, People.  Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Operations the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all People (HR) strategies to align with and support Golf Ontario’s vision, mission and values.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the advancement of the Volunteer Engagement Framework and the development and execution of the supporting strategies including:
    • Act as lead administrator of the volunteer management system (Better Impact) ensuring accuracy of data
    • Liaise with Golf Ontario Volunteers re: becoming a volunteer, duties of a volunteer, expenses, miscellaneous questions, ordering nametags, etc.
    • Deliver all aspects of the Golf Ontario recognition program
    • Lead arrangements for Volunteer Appreciation Day including site arrangements, invitations and awards ceremony
    • Provide guidance and support to various volunteer areas, particularly Competitions and Handicap and Course Rating
  • Manage the development and execution of human resources strategies including:
    • Golf Ontario’s employee benefits administration program
    • Lead and deliver employee wellness initiatives
    • Vacation/Absence Tracking
    • New employee IT setup
    • Employee Service Recognition Awards
    • Assist with the organization of staff social events
  • Nurture a positive work environment
  • Support the development and management of the annual staff and volunteer budgets
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Manage the staff/volunteer recruitment, screening and onboarding/orientation process
  • Manage the staff/volunteer uniform process
  • Lead staff/volunteer education and training concerning the implementation of new policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and secure annual compliance documents and agreements for Board of Directors, staff/volunteers
  • Lead the management and delivery of Health and Safety initiatives including participating as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Administer the Respect Program for staff, volunteers and parents of athletes
  • Support the Business Operations function as needed to ensure smooth running of the office and organization
  • Attend the Annual Meeting, Volunteers Day, Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Volunteer Base(including Board of Directors)
  • Golf Ontario Staff

REQUISITE SKILLS:

  • People oriented and result driven
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Ability to work to deadline with accuracy

FORMAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in a related field
  • CHRP designation or relevant experience preferred
  • Minimum 5 years HR experience working with volunteers
  • Volunteer Management Program/Education an asset
  • Knowledge of the Golf Industry and/or the customer serve aspects of dealing with clubs and volunteers
