Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Program Design (1-year parental leave contract)
Position Summary
Canadian Women & Sport is seeking a full-time Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Program Design who will be responsible for leading the organization’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategy development, and designing tailored programs to support Canadian sport organizations in advancing gender equity. This multi-faceted position reports to the Director of Programs and works closely with staff, contractors, Board members and partners in the sport system and beyond.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who has strong project management skills, excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and is capable of effectively managing and maintaining relationships internally and externally. They can bring an intersectional lens to their work, reflecting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Program Design will take a lead role in the following areas:
- The development of the organization’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Strategy and subsequent implementation plan, including the management and coordination of the DEI Committee and related activities.
- The design, coordination, and execution of tailored gender equity services leveraging existing programs and resources, as well as the relationship management of external partners.
This role is uniquely positioned to work cross functionally and supports a variety of initiatives, programs, and projects. As such, they will work closely with the marketing and communications, operations and programs departments, as well as Board members, Program Facilitators, Consultants and external partners.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Lead the organization’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts ensuring its successful integration into all facets of the organization. In this capacity, you will:
- Manage the development of the organization’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategy and subsequent implementation plan in collaboration with the DEI Committee.
- Lead the engagement, coordination, and management of the organization’s DEI Committee.
- Lead a robust and objective process to support the organization’s efforts in exploring gender diversity and inclusion in sport.
- Lead the internal project teams, executing the work and effectively delegating tasks to ensure timely execution of relevant tasks to achieve project outcomes.
- Coordinate timely and informative communication and consultation with internal and external partners as needed.
- Work closely with, and effectively manage external consultants.
- Coordinate and support the monitoring and evaluation efforts of the DEI Strategy and Implementation Plan.
- Support the integration of the DEI Strategy and Implementation Plan into the organization’s overall strategic and operational plan.

Program Design
Be a solutions partner to the organization’s target audiences to support in their efforts to advance gender equity in sport. In this capacity, you will:
- Lead the design and packaging of our offerings to meet the needs and interests of the organization’s target audiences, leveraging existing programs and resources, and the skills and expertise among Canadian Women & Sport team members, including the Program Facilitators and Consultant network.
- Oversee and manage the execution of tailored gender equity programs.
- Respond to enquiries by potential partners, seeking to understand their needs, and identify services and offerings to support their gender equity efforts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience Diversity Studies, Human Rights, Social Justice, Sport Management or a related discipline. Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to articulate diverse lived experiences and apply it in an organization setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices and trends in Diversity and inclusion.
- 5 years’ experience facilitating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives in high-performing organizations.
- Demonstrated leadership and direct experience advancing underrepresented and marginalized groups.
- Diplomatic, with emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills. Strong attention to confidentiality and discretion.
- Proven ability to project-manage deliverables cross functionally to internal teams and external partners. Experience creating project plans, managing timelines (gantt charts), planning effective meetings, and clear communication on next steps.
- Skilled at stakeholder engagement, participatory approaches, and relationship management
- Demonstrated ability to independently design and deliver high quality, results-focused initiatives that meet organizational and funder expectations.
- Experience applying an intersectional gender equity lens, including specific understanding of anti-oppression and accessibility principles and their applications.
Strong assets:
- Knowledge of the Canadian sport system.
- Previous work in a professional environment managing multiple stakeholders and projects.
- Bilingualism (French-English)
DETAILS
- This is a 1-year full-time, contract remote position with the option of flexible working hours.
- We will consider applicants located anywhere in Canada.
- Salary range is $68,000 – $73,000 plus comprehensive health benefits.
