Manager, National Race Events
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our organization in the role of Manager, National Race Events.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Sport Development and Events, the Manager, National Race Events will lead the planning and execution of all ACA National race events working in collaboration with volunteer host local organization committees, Provicincial/Territorial Sport Organizations, clubs and the Alpine Canada Sport Development and Partnerships and Marketing teams. The Manager will have a broad scope of responsibilities including leading the bidding, hosting, and development of 3-yr calendars, budget planning & delivery, volunteer recruitment, training and supervision, management and sourcing of relevant equipment, and the procurement of government grants and other financial resources to support the events. The Manager will need to continually evaluate, check and adjust our methods of event delivery to ensure the highest standards of excellence consistent with being viewed as an industry leader in all facets of event delivery.
Duties:
Events included within this portfolio are as follows:
o FIS SX World Cup
o National Championships – SX/Alpine
o National Championships – U16 – Alpine
o Nor-Ams – SX/Alpine
Host Race Organizing Committee Relations
o On an annual basis, update the ACA Event Manual to host ROC’s for ACA events to be utilized as a resource to assist with event delivery
o Provide leadership and support to ROCs as an active member in host ROC meetings leading up to ACA events
o Provide on-site support for ROC when and where necessary
o Utilizing the SnowReg platform, build a volunteer registration process for ACA events
Event Strategies, Volunteer Recruitment, and Budget Planning
o Lead the development of a a multi-year hosting strategy for all of ACA’s National Championships (Alpine, SX) and align with the VPDS
o Develop annual events calendar to identify ACA supplemental staffing support required in situations of potential event overlap for execution and delivery of events
o Lead the development of a strategy to recruit and manage volunteers and or contract support to assist in the delivery of ACA events
o Lead the development and execution of Event Agreements for all ACA events (with the exception of Alpine WC) that are aligned with the VPDS
o Lead budget planning and delivery, in collaboration with host LOCs where appropriate
Government Grants
o Lead the submissions for Sport Canada hosting grants, and look to maximize support through available provincial and municipal grant applications for all ACA events
o Complete all accountabilities, including post event reports for approved ACA grants within identified timelines
Other Domestic Events
o In the appropriate cycle, support CWG
Equipment
o Lead in the implementation of an Event equipment strategy
Competition Calendaring
o Work in collaboration with ACA Sport Development staff, ACA athletic staff and the PTSO’s to develop both short term and long-term competition calendars inclusive of NAC, FIS and ACA championships for both Alpine and SX events
