ROLE: Manager, Fund Development

SUMMARY: The Manager, Fund Development is a dynamic individual who drives revenue through engagement with individuals, corporations and foundations in their philanthropic journeys. Reporting to the Chief Marketing & Development Officer, the Manager, Fund Development is a self-starter who is organized, tenacious and creative with a drive to raise funds and has a keen passion for innovation. The Manager, Fund Development drives strategy, manages logistics, delivers impact, and facilitates the entire donor relationship on behalf of Golf Ontario.

The ideal candidate possesses a blend of individual and corporate fundraising experience. As the ideal candidate, you are a relationship expert that is capable of building trust, and have an energy and enthusiasm that is infectious. You are skilled at engaging people because you are friendly, confident and approachable.

You are a proactive fundraising professional and possess a unique blend of technical fundraising and communication skills, business savvy, creativity, superior relationship building skills and a genuine passion for sport.

The Manager, Fund Development of Golf Ontario will be responsible for managing the full scope of activities related to the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors at all levels. This individual will work to develop and implement a program that will continually expand the major gift portfolio of prospects and donors with a donor-focused philosophy and adherence to the highest ethical standards of the fundraising profession. They will work in collaboration with the CMDO, Executive Team, Golf Canada Foundation staff, board members, and current High Performance Pathway Athletes to further enhance the positioning and fundraising effectiveness of the Golf Ontario in concert with the GCF and GO’s overall objectives.


  • Leads the creation and implementation of annual Marketing Plans that align with the Strategic
  • Plan around Philanthropic Revenue Generation.
  • Leads and develops the Social Media Strategy and execution plan in support of fundraising goals.
  • Leads the creation and sustainability of Fundraising Strategy and Delivery.


  • Facilitate communications with the GCF, donors, trustees, and membership.
  • Generate communication materials and correspondence with a strong writing style, free from errors, always behaving and communicating in a manor congruent with image and values of the Golf Ontario brand.
  • Lead creation of annual Communications Plans that align with the Strategic Plan, supporting Golf Ontario’s objectives in the fundraising space.

Revenue Generation:

  • Support the CMDO in areas related to partnership/sponsorship revenue generation and servicing to achieve the organization’s growth objectives and requirements.
  • Develop all Fundraising and Revenue generation goals, actively monitoring progress metrics, and successfully attaining annual and long-range objectives.
  • Oversee the inter-organizational collaboration with GCF and oversee the fundraising initiatives for the First Tee- Ontario program, working with development managers from First Tee – Ontario.

Requisite Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma, preferably in Fundraising, Advancement or a related field.
  • Passion for working in sport and/or golf.
  • Previous experience with a fundraising organization, major gifts solicitation, and revenue development
  • CFRE designation is an asset
