LOCATION
This position will be located in the COC office in Toronto, ON at 250 Yonge St. Suite 3000.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES
The dynamic communications team at the Canadian Olympic Foundation is seeking a competent, self-starting, passionate and hard-working writer to assist in the planning and production of many communications materials.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the creation of feature writing, digital content, biographies, press releases, donor proposals, stewardship documents, newsletters and other projects as required;
  • Create news-related and fan/donor-focused web content;
  • Interview athletes, coaches and sport partners from coast-to-coast;
  • Create features and story schedule for Weekly Messaging
  • Assist in the development and execution of the Foundation’s social media strategy;
  • Carry out administrative duties as pertains to marketing and communications;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Philanthropic Strategist, Communications

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

  • Must be a current student attending a Canadian college/university where an internship is required for their program;
  • Strong writing ability with solid grammar skills;
  • Able to recognize and tell a good story;
  • Able to take raw information and turn it into a compelling narrative;
  • Detail-oriented, especially with regards to accuracy of facts and figures;
  • Understanding of the digital landscape;
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Competency in WordPress, Word and Photoshop;
  • Knowledge of the Games, their history, their sports and athletes a major asset;
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset

TIMING
This internship will run from May 2020 – August 2020. Flexible working hours will be considered, with a minimum of 24 hours (the equivalent of three work days) per week. Please indicate your availability on your application.

COMPENSATION
This internship is a non-paid position for current students. Relocation assistance is not provided.
