We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated high performance technical leader to join our organization in the role of High Performance Director, Alpine National Team Program. 

Reporting to the President & CEO, the High Performance Director (HPD), Alpine is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and leads the Canadian Alpine Ski Team (CAST) staff of coaches, performance science, para-medical and ski service professionals to create a sustainable high-performance environment
for alpine skiing that enables podium performances on the world stage in line with ACA’s strategy, vision, mission, and values.  The HPD is accountable for the implementation of the strategic direction of the Alpine high performance program and has a broad scope of responsibilities including building a team approach within a professional staff and national team athletes toward podium performances; leadership,
planning, and management of national team; management of relationships with sport funding and performance partners; as well as people development, budgeting and administration. 

 Duties:

1.      Leadership of the National Team Program

·        Oversee all aspects of the CAST, including World Cup and Next Gen programming

·        Lead the Alpine High-Performance plan through development and implementation

·        Provide athletes with world class technical leadership, on-snow training, competition and dryland programs to maximize their athletic results

·        Deliver the operational plans, including administrative management for training camps, daily training needs, and competition requirements

·        Lead the communication and implementation of all safe sport policies and training to CAST staff and athletes to build a healthy, safe and inclusive high performance culture consistent with ACA values and operating principles

·        Work closely with the Integrated Support Team (IST) lead and national team coaches to prepare and implement yearly athlete training programs, race strategy and preparation

·        Travel, as required, to training locations and competition venues to oversee staff and athletes for all CAST teams

·        Assist ACA staff in the domestic development and coaching certification programs where required

2.      Management of Relationships with Canadian and International Sports Organizations

·        Lead the working relationship with Own the Podium’s High Performance Advisor for the national team program, including development of the annual submission and reporting requirements, including but not limited to planning, drafting, reviewing, preparing and presentation materials pertaining to the ACA / Own the Podium agreement

·        Lead the working relationship between the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Olympic Performance Manager for Alpine Ski programs, on-going liaison with the senior games staff, appropriate preparation for upcoming Olympic Games, budget development and oversight as required to ensure a strong and stable partnership

·        Act as the primary interface with the Canadian Sport Institutes

·        Develop and lead research and innovation projects with assistance from Head Coaches, working with relevant institutions and experts

·        Build and maintain relationships with key individuals to benefit current and long-term
programming:

o   International partners for training venues

o   Canadian resorts for domestic training venues and race locations

·        Participate on relevant FIS committees as assigned (FIS Alpine Committee, Coaches Working
Group, World Cup sub Committee, NorAm Cup sub Committee)

·        Collaborate with PTSOs and ACA VP Sport Development & Events on development initiatives

·        Develop strong ties with PTSOs and communicate on a regular basis 

3.      People Development, Budgeting and Administration

·        Working closely with the CEO and the CFO, lead the daily administrative support for all
aspects of the development, management and evaluation of the Alpine Ski national team annual budget

·        Lead the preparation of the appropriate materials and information in achieving the goals and objectives of the high-performance program

·        Implement financial control process and administrative policies and procedures within the CAST area of responsibility in keeping with ACA procedures and reporting requirements of external funding partners

·        Manage and lead all CAST staff and contractors, including all head coaches; ensuring that all staff responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities are clearly defined, understood, carried out and evaluation

·        Lead recruitment and ongoing staff succession planning for all CAST positions

·        Identify and oversee the implementation of on-going professional development for all CAST
staff

·        As requested by the CEO, engage in ACA planning activities and Board of Director meetings as
required

·        Contribute to the implmentation of ACA strategic plan and ensure CAST has a long-term high-performance plan that enables the sustained success of the team at the World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Games

·        Manage the overall planning of the World Cup, World Championship and Olympic events in
coordination with the Team Operations Director and Head Coaches

·        Ensure that all athletes contribute to mandatory athlete fundraising, pay team fees, head
gear contribution and other dues as required

·        Support Head Coaches with mid-season and end-of-season reviews for all Athletes

·        Provide direction, feedback, coaching, and recognition to build talent in direct reports

·        Ensure preparation of annual performance reviews for all CAST staff
