General
The General Manager is the most senior employee responsible for the administration of the organization and implementation of the strategic plan and policies established by the Board of Directors. This person will decide all matters relating to the operations and growth of the organization. Financial health and strong risk management practices are also a focus area of this position.
The General Manager is responsible for the organization’s personnel management and oversight of the technical direction of the club with strong leadership, mentorship, communication and relationship skills.
Role Description
Operations
· With input and guidance from the Board, directs the development for the strategic plan
· Conducts mid-year strategic plan reviews and updates the board on strategic plan progress
· Develops implements and evaluates operational and technical activities to support the strategic plan
· In conjunction with technical staff assure program goals and implementation are in line with strategic plan
· Mediates club issues as required
· Manages the organizations resources to sustainably implement policies and programs
· Develops and maintains an integrated work plan in cooperation with key leadership
· Chairs strategic plan reviews with the Head Coaches/ Key program staff and other coaches and staff
· Prepares annual report for LGF Annual Meeting
· Ensure LGF is compliant with all government entities
· Ensures LGF’s insurance needs are fully covered
· Develops operational and technical plans with appropriate staff
. Manages the organization’s resources in order to implement the various policies and programs decided upon by the Board
. Develops and maintains an integrated annual work plan in cooperation with staff.
. Chairs regular staff meetings with the head of the Technical staff
. Manages the organizations public relations
Communications
Communicate with strategic partners (Langley Event Centre, City, Township, GBC, GCG, etc.)
Promote and support ongoing communication within the club – meaning with parents, staff, board
· Maintains open lines of communications with and among the Board of Directors, Head Coaches, Recreation Center Staff, Preschool Staff, members and staff
· Meets regularly with Head Coaches/Program staff to promote efficient functioning of the organization, staff leadership, and member communications
· In cooperation with key Program Staff directs communication of new programs
· Creates, evaluates and oversees the deployment of the organizations communication plan
Financial Management
· Coordinates and attends meeting of the club finance committee
· In conjunction with Finance staff and key leaders, prepares and manages operating/technical budget
· Seeks out and applies for grants, subsides etc.
· In cooperation with key leadership and designated directors, support fundraising campaigns
· Coordinates year end audits
· Ensures that required government reports are filed in a timely fashion
· In conjunction with finance staff and finance committee develops and implements appropriate policies
. Prepare annual budget in conjunction with staff and board
. Controls expenditure within budget parameters
. Ensure LGF operates in a financially sound and a fiscally responsible manner.
. Coordinates meetings of and serves on LGF’s Finance Committee
People Management (Human Resources)
· Ensure equitable hiring and professional development practises are in place and followed
· Hires, supervises and evaluates administrative staff, head coaches and key leaders
· Prepares, updates, maintains job descriptions and employment contracts
· Oversees human resource files are appropriately and accurately maintained
· Periodically reviews compensation policies and the corresponding internal and external equity review processes
· Handles resignations or terminations of organizations staff
· Ensures strong complaint management policies and processes are in place and implemented
· Ensures all staff are up to date and compliant with any certifications or requirements of registration with GBC, GCG or other organizations
