Coordinator, Information Technology (IT)

The Prince Edward Island 2023 Canada Games Host Society is looking to fill the position of Coordinator, Information Technology.

As a province known for its hospitality, we’re excited to welcome the 2023 Canada Winter Games to Prince Edward Island. From February 18 – March 5, 2023, the Games will bring together over 3,600 athletes, managers and coaches, across 20 different sports for the largest multi-sport event in the country. With a forecasted economic impact of over $100 million, the 29th edition of the Canada Games will be the largest event hosted in Prince Edward Island’s history.


Reporting to the Manager IT & Administration, the Coordinator, IT will be part of the team that is responsible for creating a secure and reliable IT Infrastructure for the Host Society, as well as, the 2023 Canada Winter Games in order to deliver a life-shaping Games experience.


  • To support the development and review of policies and procedures for the Information Technology Functional Area.

  • Be a part of the team that is developing and implementing plans for implementing a Wide Area Network as well as a Mobile Communications for the different venues of the games.

  • Provide help desk as well as desk side support to the Host Society Staff

  • Participate in the planning, implementation & support of IT solutions/projects across different Functional Areas.

  • Develop knowledge of the IT solutions implemented by the Host Society.

  • Provide user training and support (Level 1 & 2) for the different IT solutions implemented by the Host Society based on the knowledge articles available.

  • Liaise between external support providers and the functional area (IT) to resolve escalated IT issues.

  • Liaise with outsourced/contracted providers of IT solutions to the Host Society and the 2023 Canada Winter Games.

  • Administration of the Games Management System (

  • Work with the Functional Area Staff and Volunteers to support Games Time IT Operations.

  • Support the IT needs of other Functional Areas within the Host Society where applicable.

  • Other duties as reasonably required. Due to the nature of our organization and mission especially in the period leading up to the actual Games, all staff will be required to act in capacities beyond their formal job description. These will always be reasonable requests and the expectation is that staff will adjust accordingly.


  • An undergraduate degree, diploma or certification in an Information Technology field, Computer Sciences or another field.

  • Two (2) or more years of demonstrable IT experience. A combined equivalence of education and practical experience will be considered for this role.

  • Experience working with and administering Google Workspace.

  • Exposure and experience in networking.

  • Experience in providing helpdesk and deskside support.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, administration, and planning skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, in English is required and fluency in French is an asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects and tasks.

  • Ability to work in a team environment, with both staff and volunteers, where duties and reporting levels are shared.

  • Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit, events, sports or multi-sport Games environment is an asset.


  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.

  • Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

  • May be subject to a criminal record check and/or other background checks.

  • Working conditions: sitting, using a computer, and repetitive motions over extended periods of time.


  • Full Time: 40 – 48 hours per work week.

  • Additional hours, or time outside of the normal work hours, may be required in order to meet operational requirements of the 2023 Canada Winter Games.

This is a contract position, commencing in mid-December 2021 until April 2023.
