Coordinator, Festivals & Culture

The Prince Edward Island 2023 Canada Games Host Society is looking to fill the position of Coordinator, Festivals and Culture.

As a province known for its hospitality, we’re excited to welcome the 2023 Canada Winter Games

to Prince Edward Island. From February 18 – March 5, 2023, the Games will bring together over

3,600 athletes, managers and coaches, across 20 different sports, for the largest multi-sport

event in the country. With a forecasted economic impact of over $100 million, the 29th edition of

the Canada Games will be the largest event hosted in Prince Edward Island’s history.


The Coordinator of Festivals & Culture will contribute to the mission of delivering a life-shaping Games experience by completing day-to-day tasks to support the development and delivery of the 2023 Canada Winter Games’ Ceremonies, Receptions and Arts & Culture program.


  • Work with the Director of Ceremonies, Culture & VIP Services and the Manager of Festivals & Special Events to assist the planning and execution of the 2023 Canada Games Festivals and Special Events. This will include but not be limited to:

    • Festival concerts

    • Winter carnival sites

    • Community stages & partnerships

    • Pre-Games cultural engagement activities

    • Supporting planning committees and volunteer teams

  • Coordinate details of event logistics for Festivals and Events, working closely with volunteers, staff, contractors and the production teams.

  • Responsible for supporting all aspects of festivals and cultural events including but not limited to performer and supplier contracts, hospitality, venue agreements, onsite logistics, promotion, etc.

  • Recruitment and training of volunteers.

  • Responsible for detailed record keeping for future event transfer of knowledge.

  • Submit final reports after the events to evaluate success.

  • Other tasks as they may apply to the Festivals (86) Functional Area.


  • An undergraduate certificate/ degree or diploma in event coordination, arts administration, or CEP designation.

  • Two (2) years of related experience in an event environment, preferably in the entertainment industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects on site and off site.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must have a desire to work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a focus on attention to detail and communication of expectations.

  • Ability to work in a team environment where duties and reporting levels are shared.

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Knowledge and experience working in a multi-sport Games or events environment is an asset.

  • Supportive of the Games initiative and contributing to its success through high quality work and effort.

  • Demonstrated sound judgement in decision-making.

  • Experience working in the Google Drive platform.

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
