Competitive Climbing Coach
Weekly Duties and Responsibilities:
– 4 nights of coaching per week
– Attend weekly coaching meetings
– Supervise, manage, motivate, and inspire youth climbers
– Adapt on the fly to change daily plans if necessary
– Organize and maintain the cleanliness of youth program and team areas
– Assist in training and supervising new coaches
– Set appropriate drill stations on the wall for athletes
Monthly Duties and Responsibilities:
– Create detailed daily, monthly, and yearly training plans for athletes
– Attend all competitions: coach and appeal as necessary
– Organize and supervise monthly team trips
– Meet with the Head Coach to evaluate athlete performance and construct and modify training plans accordingly
– Consult with youth program coaches to identify prospective team athletes
– Aid in the creation of equipment orders
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
– Strong understanding of climbing movement
– Understanding of Sport for Life model
– Minimum 8mo competitive climbing coaching experience
– Minimum 5yrs climbing experience
– Ability to forerun V9/5.13+
– Understanding of current IFSC competition formats and rules
– Weekday, weeknight, and weekend availability
– Ability to work well in a team environment
– Professional, punctual, thoughtful, and enthusiastic
Competition climbing experience in all three disciplines: speed, lead, and boulder, is an asset
Experience leading outdoor bouldering trips is an asset.
PAY & HOURS
– Permanent position
– $22-27/hr, higher pay commensurate on experience and qualifications
– 35hr work-week
