The Opportunity:

Club de Ski Camp Fortune Ski Club is currently searching for a Program Director to lead our Alpine Ski Racing Club. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated leader who wants to contribute in a meaningful way to a fantastic competitive alpine ski racing community. This role reports directly to the Board of Directors.

About Camp Fortune Ski Club:

Club de Ski Camp Fortune Ski Club was originally established in 1910 and has been operating the current racing program as a not-for-profit alpine racing club out of Camp Fortune Ski Hill located in Chelsea, Quebec (15 minutes North of Ottawa) since 1920.

Athlete focused, led by professional coaches, and parent supported, we are an independent organization providing Alpine Ski Racing Programs for approximately 200 athletes ranging from Nancy Greene (age 7) to the U21/University level.

Our focus on developing good people, healthy lifestyles, and strong families distinguishes us as a premier club in the region. Our race programs have a long-standing history of producing life-long ski enthusiasts, and developing world class ski racers. Some of our famous alumni include John & Harvey Clifford, Art & Andy Tommy, Anne Heggtveit, Betsy Clifford, Ken Read, Horst Bulau, and most recently Patrick Biggs, representing Canada at the World Championships and Olympic competitions.


  • Build, communicate, and deliver a clear, coherent, and well-defined annual program plan and athlete pathway across all age groups, in accordance with Alpine Canada’s LTAD. This includes:
    • Fall dryland training
    • Pre-Season and Post-Season on-snow training camps (Spring/Summer/Fall)
    • Regular season programming
    • Race series NG-U18
    • Mid and end of season training camps
    • Special events (e.g., Speed Camp)
  • Stay abreast of emerging industry trends and bring new programming ideas forward.
  • Promote use of different techniques and opportunities to enhance the overall athlete training and development experience (e.g., video replay).
  • Create an environment and culture where all athletes feel included and have a sense of belonging.
  • Provide leadership and support to the individual age group Lead Coaches.
  • Provide on-snow coaching support for away camps, mini-camps and throughout the season as required.
  • Safe Sport: safeguard athletes by ensuring club policies and procedures, rules and regulations are being followed by coaches and athletes.
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: ensure the sport is accessible, equitable, and representative of the broader community through thought leadership, programing opportunities, and strategic alliances.
  • Complete annual review and submission of Emergency Action Plan (EAP). Management and Professional Development
  • Lead and motivate a team of approximately 40 coaches.
  • Partner with age group coach leads to build programs and personal development goals. Measure progress against goals throughout the season and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Conduct annual coach recruiting and hiring and ensure all staffing requirements are met.
  • Promote a culture of coach growth and development. Initiate/organize professional development opportunities for coaches.
  • Provide mentoring for coaches to move from Trained to Certified Status.
  • Emphasize coach engagement and retention.

Board of Directors / Programs and Athletic Development Committee

  • Participate in board meetings and relevant committee meetings.
  • Report activities and key metrics to the Board of Directors on a regular basis.
  • Meet with the Programs and Athletic Development Committee to present annual program plan for review/approval, and follow up meetings to report on progress and deliverables.


  • Work closely with Club Operations Manager and the Club Treasurer to build the yearly budget.
  • Collaborate on additional budgets throughout the season (e.g., training camps).
  • Contribute to monitoring budgets and manage expenses, including but not limited to coaching fees, equipment and travel expenses.
  • Complete a yearly coach pay scale review and recommend coach pay rates for board approval.
  • Procure, manage, and track inventory in collaboration with the Club Operations Manager and Equipment Manager.

Membership Relationships

  • Proactively connect with Club members on an ongoing basis. Be approachable and accessible.
  • Answer questions and concerns in a prompt, constructive and professional manner.
  • Provide regular updates on club activities to members via emails, town-halls, age group meetings, etc.
  • Collect regular member feedback (e.g., surveys).
  • Ensure coaches complete and distribute athlete progress reports at mid and end of season.
  • Organize and deliver parent orientation and information sessions (regular season, camps, ski-tuning, equipment, Athlete pathway and development presentations etc.).

Camp Fortune Ski Hill Relationships

  • Foster a positive, respectful, mutually-beneficial relationship with our home ski hill.
  • Manage hill space and grooming requests for both training and races.
  • Communicate with Camp Fortune ski school director around club program offerings, and ensure alignment, and fluid entry point for aspiring ski racers into the club.
  • Agree on plans (timing, requirements etc.) each season for races, events etc.

External Relationships

  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners such as Alpine Ontario, Ski Quebec Alpin, Local Boards (National Capital Division and Outaouais Ski Zone).
  • Build strong relationships with lead program staff and key stakeholders at other regional hills. Attributes and Competencies

  • Licensed ACA-CSC coach in good standing
  • Minimum ACA Development-level Certified; Preference for Performance-level Certified
  • Minimum Level II CSIA; Preference for Level III CSIA
  • ACA course facilitator and/or coach evaluator are definite assets
  • Previous experience as a Program Director is an asset
  • Experience operating within a $500K+ budget is an asset
  • Experience working with Google Drive (or similar software platforms) is an asset
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset


  • Full Time salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
