Skate Canada, the national sport organization for figure and synchronized skating in Canada, is currently seeking interested individuals to serve on the Board of Directors commencing May 27, 2023.

Skate Canada is a grassroots organization operating in 10 regional Sections with over 1,000 Canadian skating clubs of all sizes, including 10,000 supporting volunteers. Skate Canada has the structure to grow and champion athletes from the learn-to-skate levels and progressing to elite athletes representing Canada at international and Olympic competitions. A not-for-profit organization with over a hundred years of history, Skate Canada serves a membership of over 180,000 registrants and is the largest learn-to-skate teaching organization in Canada with 5,500 professionally qualified coaching members. It is dedicated to creating a nation of both recreational and competitive skaters.

The Skate Canada Board, comprised of a President and up to twelve Directors, is accountable to the organization’s membership for overall governance, direction setting, strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation.

Individuals with skill sets, experience and time available to support the work of Skate Canada’s engaged policy Board across relevant not-for-profit governance areas are encouraged to submit an application. These skills include, but are not limited to fundraising, sponsorship, partnership development, digital strategy, marketing, finance/accounting, community engagement, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

All parts of the application must be completed for consideration. The deadline for submission is March 13, 2023.

Members of the Skate Canada Board of Directors are not financially compensated as Skate Canada is a not-for-profit organization. Reasonable expenses incurred while attending to Skate Canada business will be reimbursed.
