Reporting to the Manager, Games, the Coordinator, Games will support the logistics of the Games Team’s activities and projects. More specifically, the Coordinator, Games will support logistics in the lead up and execution for the following Games:

  • Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, South Korea (January 29th to February 01st, 2024), and

This position will contribute to the delivery of a world class performance environment for Athletes, Coaches and Support Team at the Games. The incumbent will work collaboratively within the Games Planning Team to deliver on COC Games objectives. The Coordinator, Games will be responsible for a portfolio of projects, including one major impact project, for the Games mentioned above with a primary focus on Arrivals & Departures and Travel.

This is a 15-month fixed-term contract, spanning from approximately August 2023 through October 2024.

LOCATION

This position will be located in the COC office in Montreal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West. We offer a hybrid work model that allows for up to three days of remote work each week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES

Games Planning and Operations

  • Responsible for the planning, delivery, and reconciliation of the Arrivals & Departure project for Santiago 2023 and Paris 2024:
    1. Develop and maintain project plans in the COC Project Management software (Asana).
    2. In the lead up to Games, manage the Organizing Committee’s Arrivals & Departures system based on the information in the COC Games Management System.
    3. Coordinate athletes and support staff with transportation to their appropriate accommodation location and be the point of contact for any issues with the accreditation/migration process at the airport.
  • Responsible for the planning, delivery, and reconciliation of the Travel project for Gangwon 2024:
    1. Develop and maintain project plans in the COC Project Management software (Asana).
    2. Manage and execute the Travel program by liaising between the official travel agency and the national sport organizations participating in the Games.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Games Management Team including meetings preparation, hosting, note-taking and follow ups.
  • Contribute to special projects that fall outside of Games specific operations.

High Performance Advisors Connection

  • Work with each sport’s assigned High Performance Advisors (HPAs) to understand the individual sports’ realities & plans in the lead up and during the Games.
  • Provide solutions or alternatives to identified sports’ needs and gaps throughout the execution of the project while considering available resources (budget, logistics, human resources, etc.).
  • Consult the Senior Manager, Sports Strategy and Performance Integration during the strategic planning of the assigned projects to ensure the sports lens and needs are considered in the program delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education and Experience

  • University degree or college diploma
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience, including multi-sport or international sport event experience and/or multi-sport Games experience
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Sport System and major Games operations
  • Project management experience is an asset

The Opportunity

The TMU Bold Men’s Rugby Team is a Varsity Club team that represents TMU in interuniversity sport competition. The Department of Athletics is seeking an experienced and energetic person to serve as the Head Coach and Supervisor of the program. This individual will work under the direction of the Competitive Clubs Coordinator and the Manager, Sport Operations. The position is responsible for coaching, administration and development of the team. Key roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Coordinating the direction and operation of the program, including training and competition.

Student athlete recruitment, mentoring, development, and retention.

Preparation and supervision of all team practices and training events.

Ensure athletes and team personnel meet the expectations and guidelines outlined in the student-athlete and coach’s code of conduct.

Securing additional volunteer support staff, where needed.

Providing regular and frequent communication with athletes and team personnel.

Attend all meetings and in-servicing as prescribed by the Competitive Clubs Coordinator.

Ensuring athletes meet eligibility and participation requirements.

Preparation and execution of an annual team budget that includes coordinating revenue generating activities such as fundraisers, external awards and grants.

Work with Athletics to coordinate travel and accommodations as required for off-site competition.

Actively engage in risk management oversight and mitigation.

The rugby season begins in September and finishes in mid-to-late October. Training and registration in non-sanctioned competition throughout the year may be permitted.

The candidate needs to be a strong leader with diverse coaching knowledge and ability to work well with others. It is essential that the candidate act in accordance with documented procedures and policies set by TMU and the appropriate governing bodies. Effective communication, management, and organizational skills are required.

Position requirements include:

NCCP Competition certification or equivalent sport specific certification

CAC Safe Sport Training

Three years of coaching at the university level, or an equivalent level.

Current CPR/1st Aid Certification

Reporting to the Women’s Hockey Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting with leading and developing an exciting and competitive high-performance U SPORTS Women’s Hockey program that enhances the strategic vision of the University and supports  the campus community.    

Duties and Responsibilities

●      Assist with strategic planning,  administration and monitoring of performance of the Women’s Hockey program. 

●      Practice planning, day to day organization, team communication and instruction.

●      Game preparation including scouting, video analysis and tactical planning.

●      Assist in the organization of team travel.

●      Assist with recruitment efforts; talent identification, and evaluation.

●      Assist with student-athlete development.  This includes mentorship of individuals and supporting team dynamics, managing team rules and conduct, leadership development, commitment to safety, and supporting the overall well-being of student athletes.

●      Remain current with knowledge, trends, and practices that are necessary to assist with building and maintaining a nationally competitive program and to promote an environment of growth.

●      Assist with the planning and lead the implementation of fundraising activities that support the Women’s Hockey program.

Specific Skills

●      Ability to train and motivate athletes.

●      Demonstrate passion and energy in a university community, particularly varsity athletics.

●      Comprehensive knowledge of strategies and techniques that support the teaching, coaching, and ultimate preparation of student-athletes for practice and competition at the U SPORTS level.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The OVA Beach Tour is the leading beach volleyball tour in Canada. We are looking for vibrant, hard-working individuals who are keen to assist in the delivery of the OVA Beach Tour.

The Ontario Volleyball Association has the following job opportunity available (subject to government funding approval) to all young people aged 15 to 30. The duration of the position is from May to August 2023. Canada Summer Jobs is a government sponsored employment program. The OVA welcomes applications from qualified priority applicants (i.e. students who are members of a visible minority, aboriginal students, newcomers to Canada or students with disabilities).

Between May and August, the OVA hosts 14 weekend beach tournaments throughout Ontario including Ontario Championships & Nationals. The Beach Tour Assistant Coordinator will split their time between the office and the beach to ensure the OVA Beach Tour runs smoothly.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead in the organization, management and delivery of Beach Tour competitions including:

o Develop schedules and team seedings

o Create tournament scoresheets

o Verify, record and post results online

o Ensure setup of event onsite (will involve physical labour)

o Manage social media onsite at events

o Book medical staff/athletic therapists

o Schedule security and review all equipment is present on site

o Arrange and organize prizing for tournament winners

o Manage OVA Beach Crew staff members at all tour stops

o Liaise with facility staff onsite

• In conjunction with Operations Lead, manage and adhere to annual OVA Beach Handbook

• Communicate and work with tournament venue hosts

Qualifications & Desired Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in sport management or similar program

• Able to work Wednesdays to Sundays each week (2 days in office, 3 days on the beach)

• Previous experience with running large scale volleyball tournaments an asset

• Reliable, self-motivated, hard-working individual

• Willing to work in various weather conditions (rain, wind, sun)

• Familiar with tournament scheduling and logistics
