Sport Manitoba – Team Manitoba athletes arrived by the bus load on Saturday, giving all teams and individuals time to settle into the athlete village ahead of Week Two competition. Team Manitoba will look to add to its impressive total of 18 medals earned in Week One. There are nine sports on tap for Week Two, with Team Manitoba athletes beginning competition in canoe kayak, female softball, swimming, tennis, and indoor volleyball on Monday.

Medals will be awarded on the first day of Week Two competition in both swimming and canoe kayak. Golf, male soccer, and cycling events will begin on Tuesday. Then wrestling is the last sport to begin its schedule with competition beginning on Wednesday.

Team Manitoba’s haul of 18 medals in Week One ranks them sixth among provinces and territories. Manitoba’s medal count includes two gold medals, earned by distance runner Victoria Tachinski and rower Emma Gray. The gold medal winners are the only Manitoba athletes to win three medals each, as Tachinski had also collected two silver medals and Gray won two bronze medals.
