Canada Snowboard – Vancouver, BC – Amidst a heavy field of riders in Friday night’s X Games Oslo men’s Slopestyle final, Sébastien Toutant (l’Assomption, QC) came up big in his second and final run to take home the bronze medal in Norway. Toutant scored an 84.00 to join Sven Throgren (SWE) and Stale Sandbech (NOR) on the men’s podium. Spencer O’Brien (Courtenay, BC) was the lone Canadian female in the field and finished 5th in the Women’s Slopestyle final.

With the pressure on, Toutant delivered a strong run when it mattered most, completing a very technical rail section before launching a cab 1260 nose grab, backside 1440 mute, and a frontside double cork 1080. 

Mark McMorris (Regina, SK) finished in 6th while Max Parrot (Bromont, QC) ended his day in 8th.

The final event from this year’s Canadian Olympic Freestyle Selection Tour, X Games Oslo will conclude Saturday night with womens and mens snowboard Big Air.

Minard takes home first World Cup podium of the season

Curt Minard (Vernon, BC) capped off the Para-snowboard SBX World Cup circuit  with a bronze medal in the official PyeongChang 2018 test event in South Korea. Andrew Genge (Oshawa, ON) ended up in 4th.

A strong showing from both Upper Limb athletes in qualifications ended up pitting them against one another in the small final, Minard edging out Genge to take home the bronze, as well as his first world cup podium of the season. 

The Para-snowboard world cup season concludes with a Banked Slalom World Cup on Monday March 13th in Jeongseon.

NextGen Riders Carter Jarvis & Baily McDonald win Slopestyle Gold at Air Nation Nationals 

Simcoe County and Mount St. Louis Moonstone hosted another heavy mens and womens slopestyle contest with NextGen team riders Baily McDonald (Barrie, ON) and Carter Jarvis (Calgary, AB) taking home the top spots in the Open category.

Quebec’s Marguerite Sweeney and Ontario’s Jasmine Baird rounded off the female podium while William Izzard and Joshua Reeves completed the podium on the mens side.

Sweeney and Reeves also won the overall Air Nation Freestyle tour, and will get a free camp week at Camp of Champions this summer.

Canadian riders head to World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain

Canadians are logging some serious travel miles this winter as they head to the FIS World Championships of Snowboarding 2017 in Sierra Nevada, Spain. With halfpipe in the books, Canadians will continue to look to impress on the international scene in Slopestyle, Snowboardcross, and Alpine disciplines.
