RA and House of Sport welcome Cystic Fibrosis Canada to its community
Recreation Association of the Public Service of Canada – (Ottawa, ON) – The RA is pleased to announce that Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s Northern and Eastern Ontario office will be joining the House of Sport community in December.
As an internationally recognized leader in funding innovation and clinical care, Cystic Fibrosis Canada invests more in life-saving cystic fibrosis (CF) research and care than any other non-governmental agency in Canada – over $244 million to date.
“We are thrilled to be sharing a space alongside other organizations who work to improve the health and wellbeing of Canadians,” says Hilary Evans, Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s Regional Executive Director, Ontario North & East. “Being part of the RA and House of Sport community will strengthen our capacity to help Canadians living with the devastating impacts of this disease. We are excited to see what this next chapter brings for all of us working to end CF.”
CF is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. Today, 50 percent of Canadians with CF are expected to live into their early 50s and beyond, and nearly 60 percent of all people with CF in Canada are adults. In the 1960s, most children did not live long enough to attend kindergarten. But there is much work to be done as there is still no cure.
“The diversity of organizations committed to this project continues to broaden and deepen the House of Sport,” says Tosha Rhodenizer, RA Chief Executive Officer. “The welcome addition of Cystic Fibrosis Canada is further proof of concept that the innovative model that has been developed is attractive and beneficial to all members of the House of Sport community.”
The House of Sport provides National and Multi-Sport organizations the opportunity to house their administrative offices in a feature rich environment designed for collaboration, innovation and efficiency – a first of its kind in Canada. Under development at the RA’s Riverside Drive campus, the House of Sport will not only offer organizations an open concept community, but will also support them with a wide range of services, and meeting rooms, leveraging economies of scale to drive down costs. This is on top of the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded organizations and access health and wellness opportunities for staff members.
