Marck-Sherk moves into top spot at Investors Group Ontario Women’s Amateur Championship
Golf Ontario – CAMBRIDGE—Another round at the Investors Group Ontario Women’s Amateur Championship, at Galt Country Club, is in the books. Ridgeway’s Madeline Marck-Sherk, from Bridgewater Country Club, soared to the top of the leaderboard with a one-under (71) during round two on July 12. That brought her two-round total to two-under (71-71-142).
Marck-Sherk had an impressive seven birdies on the round but unfortunately dropped a few strokes with two double bogeys. Still, she will take a four-shot lead into the third round.
In second is Mitchell’s Courtney Tolton, who shot an incredible three-under on the back nine, which brought her to one-over (73) for the day. Tolton started slowly on the front nine at four-over. However, she quickly got into high gear after she made the turn. Tolton is now two-over (73-73-146) for the championship.
Joining Tolton and Marck-Sherk in the final pairing of round three will be the opening-round leader Unionville’s Kelsey Sear, from York Downs Golf and Country Club. Sear, who entered the day with a two-shot lead, is now five strokes off the pace after a six-over (78). Sear sits third at three-over (69-78-147).
After the round the field was cut to the lowest 54 scores and ties. Round three starts tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. and spectators are invited to Galt Country Club to take in the action.
