2021 ISBHF Ball Hockey World Championship Expression of Interest to Host What is it? The Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA), has been awarded the rights to host the 2021 International Street and Ball Hockey Federation (ISBHF) Ball Hockey World Championship. The CBHA is seeking Expressions of Interest to host this Official World Championship from communities across Canada. The outline of the basic requirements and process is provided below. About the CBHA: More information on the CBHA, an associate member of Hockey Canada, can be found at www.cbha.com. The CBHA has 11 member associations spanning across 9 provinces that serves more than 38,000 participants from coast to coast. The Host is expected to work in partnership with the CBHA and the applicable CBHA Provincial Association Member to deliver a top-quality Championship experience. About the ISBHF World Championship: This is a bi-annual championship (the 14th in ISBHF history) to declare the World Champion in both Men’s and Women’s Indoor Ball Hockey. Canada has captured the Men’s Championship 5 times and are 4-time Women’s World Champions. This will mark the 3rd time that Canada has hosted this Championship, lasted held in Canada in St. John’s, NFLD in 2013. It was also hosted in Toronto, ON in 2001. Based on the recent ISBHF Championships held in Canada, the 2018 ISBHF World Championship will have and estimated economic impact of $1.5 to $2.5 Million to the community, province and Canada. In addition, there is an estimated $900K to $1.5 million in taxes (direct, indirect and Induced impact) to all 3 levels of government (Based on 2018 ISBHF Junior Worlds hosted in St. John’s, NFLD and Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance Model (CSTA) assessment). The approximate operating budget for this Championship is about $100,000 to $150,000 (dependent on services provided). The 2019 event is being held in Kosice, Slovakia, from June 14-22. More information can be found at www.isbhf.com. There are approximately 20-30 national teams that participate. The 2019 ISBHF World Championship has a field of 20 Men’s teams and 6 Women’s teams. The number of teams for 2021 is subject to final confirmation of ISBHF member national associations. There are approximately 85-95 games to be contested over a 9 or 10 day period (based on 2019 schedule). We anticipated in excess of 700 participants including players, staff and officials to be hosted for the duration of this event. Most teams have a contingent of 24 players plus 6 staff. When is it? The event will be hosted in June of 2021. The tentative dates for the 2021 Championship are Friday June 11, 2021 to Saturday June 19, 2021 (subject to change and ISBHF Approval).
