Wheelchair Basketball Canada Winter Internship applications are now open: Available positions include:

Intern, High Performance

  • Intern, On-Court Operations

The deadline to apply is October 18th, 2019. Interviews will take place in late October with an anticipated start date of January 6, 2020. French versions of the job descriptions are attached to this posting. Please note, you must be enrolled in a program where an internship is required as part of course curriculum to be considered.

  • Intern, High Performance
  • Assist in the daily operation of the Wheelchair Basketball Canada office;
  • Provide support to the High Performance Coordinator with the implementation of the high performance plan, including scheduling and resource requirements;
  • Assist with logistics for all of the National Team programs, including travel, accommodation, ground transportation, camps, competitions and on-site athlete support services;
  • Assist with on-court requirements as part of our Nextgen programming at the National Training Centre;
  • Assist with logistical and planning support for special events taking place at the National Training Centre;
  • Assist with an inventory and maintenance program for all high performance clothing, equipment and supplies;
  • Other duties as required;

Intern, On-Court Operations

  • Assist with on-court operations as directed by the National Academy Director and Coaches; including setting up the court for practices and games, running the scorers table and working the shotclock, rebounding for athletes, assisting with team practice, etc
  • Work in partnership with the high performance coordinator to organize and prepare daily operational and logistic needs for the Nextgen programming and operations;
  • Working with Coach’s and performance analyst video taping of specific practices and simulated games and individual workouts
  • Assist in accumulating player and team data
  • Other administrative duties as required

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a program where an internship is required as part of course curriculum;

Qualifications 

  • Experience in sport management, business management, event planning, or a related field;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, time management and problem solving skills;
  • Proficiency with computers, technology and Microsoft Office required;
  • Ability to take direction and multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Oral and written fluency in both official languages is considered an asset;
  • A passion for sport is a must;
  • Possess a valid drivers license.

Terms of Contract

4-month contract position (January-April 2020);

  • Located at the Wheelchair Basketball Canada office in Toronto, Ontario.
