OVERVIEW

  • The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and officiating the Wednesday Co-ed Dodgeball League
  • Games will be played at one of following 2 locations (Applewood Heights and Fairview PS)
  • Expected game times will be at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00pm every week, with anticipated shift time ranging from 5:45-10:00pm
  • Leagues dates will run from Wednesday, September 18th until Wednesday, December 11th

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Explaining the rules to all players as needed and ensuring that all participants understand game expectations and follow the rules
  • Maintaining standards of play and ensuring all players are conducting themselves appropriately during game play
  • Signaling participants to make them aware of infractions to otherwise regulate play or competition
  • Inspecting sporting equipment and/or examining participants in order to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations
  • Keeping track of game times and start/stop play when necessary
  • Resolving claims of rule infractions on site and assess any necessary penalties according to game rules
  • Verifying the score with both teams at the end of the game
  • Equipment will be provided.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of the game of dodgeball
  • Confident personality and ability to take on a leadership role on site
  • Ability to be pro-active and problem solve issues that could arise
  • Previous experience as a dodgeball coach or official is an asset
  • Experience playing with the Sport & Social Group is an asset

COMPENSATION

  • All of our dodgeball umpires will earn $18/hour
  • Our officials are also invited to participate in all of our tournaments at no charge. Please note that to be eligible to play in a tournament for free you must work a regular shift in the current season.
