Sport & Social Group provides sports leagues for adults.  The organization has grown to over 130,000 members playing in a huge variety of sports year-round and has a vision to get 1 million members playing in multi-markets by 2026. Currently, we operate in eight Canadian communities and two US cities.

The primary responsibility of the Sales Manager - Events will be to achieve revenue targets across three key verticals for our business:

  1. Sports Tournaments - what’s better than 10 registered teams? 20 - now go find them, and get them signed up!

  2. Corporate Events - Tap into companies’ Health & Wellness programs, and deliver some customized team-building events for them.

  3. Major Events / Festivals - let your creativity run wild. We’ve never had an Official Beer Mile event - will you be the one to make that happen? How about a major beach volleyball tournament every summer that ends with a cool concert? You can do it - we believe in you!

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of business leads via referrals, corporate directories, and cold calling

  • Manage all inbound corporate event inquiries and convert them into booked events

  • Develop and execute the marketing plan for tournaments and corporate / special events

  • Plan and manage the events calendar and budget

  • Create new unique Sports & Entertainment events that become organizational profit centres

  • Direct, organize and execute our portfolio of sport tournaments throughout the year

  • Manage and coordinate on-site vendors at tournaments and events

  • Assist with event sponsorship

  • Monitor sales and market trends within the special event industry


  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant B2B event sales experience with demonstrable success in surpassing sales targets

  • University or College Degree in a related field. 

  • Solid understanding and experience developing and executing new event concepts

  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all event stakeholders

  • Track record of coordinating successful large scale events

  • Positive, enthusiastic and an endless supply of energy.  

  • Hardworking attitude with a “go getter” personality (you are known for taking initiative)

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills with strong attention to detail

  • Confidence in your ability to take control of a situation with a flair for being resourceful.

  • Strengths in planning, decision making and creative problem solving

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as carrying boxes and sports equipment.

  • Valid G driver’s license.


This will not be a typical 9-5 job. Weeknight and weekend work will be expected as the majority of our events take place during these times.

  • Monday-Friday hours will typically be 9:00am-5:00pm

  • Shifted hours (i.e. 1:00pm-9:00pm) may be required on certain days if there is an event taking place in the evening

  • Weekend events typically occur on Saturdays and sometimes on Sundays. Additional days worked at events will be compensated.


  • Salary will be commensurate with experience, with an expected first year range of  $45,000-$52,000 plus commission

  • 2 weeks of vacation to start, going to 3 weeks after 12 months

  • Full benefits program after 3 months
