Triathlon Canada, the national governing body for the sport, is currently seeking nominations for four Director positions to serve a four-year term until the 2023 Triathlon Canada Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Directors will be appointed by election by the Members at the 2019 Annual General Meeting in Victoria, BC on September 20, 2019. Of the four vacancies, one current director is eligible to stand for re-election.
With the support of key stakeholders, such as the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Own the Podium and Sport Canada, Triathlon Canada is responsible for the direction of the sport of Triathlon in Canada, including the delivery of Olympic and Paralympic programs. Triathlon Canada also works in coordination with Triathlon’s Provincial Sport Organizations.
Triathlon Canada Board of Directors consists of eight Director positions, including one Athlete Director, elected for four year terms. This policy-level Board exemplifies good governance, financial management, and accountable processes in the promotional and strategic development of Triathlon. The Board of Directors have six to eight scheduled meetings per year, with up to two meetings held in-person and the remainder by teleconference, and also meet at other times when necessary.
A new Board director will be expected to participate in an orientation session and to be comfortable with being a member of a governance board.
